| Carpenter ants
are the number one pest in the New England area. They are responsible
for millions of dollars worth of structural damage to homes annually.
Since the home is the premier investment for most people, does not it
make sense to protect your investment.
Integrated Pest Management Services offers a comprehensive carpenter
ant program. The program is carried out in four steps. An initial
treatment consisting of a void injection process, and completed with
three quarterly service follow-up treatments.
Upon completion of preparatory steps the ant colony is isolated and
treatment options are weighed and considered. Only after careful
consideration of the impact of a pesticide application to your
environment and health, a methodical void treatment is performed. A
pesticide formulation is chosen that will create the least hazard to
you, yet maintain the maximum effectiveness to the target.
Are these ongoing battles with carpenter ants inevitable in the
northeast? Absolutely not, with preventative measures you may never
experience a carpenter ant problem.

Conducive conditions are identified and corrected. This may include,
pruning foliage away from the structure, sealing obvious routes of entry
and correcting moisture problems.
Moisture is the primary factor in determining your vulnerability to
carpenter ant infestation. Proper maintenance can prevent this inviting
condition.
Integrated Pest Management Services incorporates many preventive
maintenance tasks into your service visits. The benefits are two-fold,
less probability of infestation and major repairs.
Can you afford not to utilize the integrated approach?

Non residual chemical treatment strategy
Moisture control, exclusion
tactics, and carpenter ant baiting are key!
Great things have happened with ant baiting recently. In years
past carpenter ants were in a category of pests where baits had some usefulness,
but were not reliable in eliminating that stubborn and resilient colony.
IPMS has developed a system of non residual carpenter
ant control that is growing in popularity and has become the treatment
of choice for many with chemical sensitivity issues, pregnant women and
families with toddlers and small children about.
The system utilizes an integrated approach
consisting of moisture identification and control, a carpenter ant
baiting system and exclusion methods when combined have proven effective
in total colony elimination.
The major differences between our void versus baiting are;
- Time needed for elimination
- Overall treatment cost
- Effectiveness on other pests
Utilization of the program
requires generally more time to bring about elimination. This is
because, bait formulations require ingestion for effectiveness. The
process is slower than conventional residual control.
The treatment cost is generally about 50 % higher than standard
treatment due to the labor intensive aspects of exclusion and moisture
control. An off setting aspect to this is that some of the issues
addressed with exclusion and moisture control are household maintenance
issues that during the service term will be addressed by us.
Varying treatment techniques are required to control other pests. The
carpenter ant is the only pest guaranteed under this program. Other
pests can be covered with additional cost and the understanding that
some residual methods may be required.
Some homes do not qualify for this
program.
